Double chocolate bound cake - Babka

Hosting parties is my hobby. One of my favourite activities. I love to have guests and family over. I always like to be busy and have plenty to do. Then I really feel alive. For this Christmas, Easter and all holidays during the year is a greatest opportunity to plan and prepare some delicious meals. If we are talking about Easter I do stick to the traditional recipes but I always have to give them a twist. This time I went over and beyond and will be serving (not very traditional) double chocolate babka. In my world I do fast on Good Friday - also cause of that all this great food taste just better.

  • 125 ml whole milk
  • 3 tbsp cacao powder
  • 300 g sugar
  • 250 g butter
  • 4 eggs
  • 225 g all porous flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp oil
  • favourite sprinkles

  1. In a source pan mix milk, cacao powder and sugar. Put on the hob and bring it to boil mixing constantly to avoid sticking to the bottom. Remove from the heat.
  2. Cut butter into cubs and mix into the chocolate mixture. Set aside until it will cool down.
  3. In the meantime mix flour with baking powder together and keep in a bowl to use it later.
  4. Separate yolks from the whites. By using a hand mixer whip whites until stiff. Set aside.
  5. When the chocolate sauce is in the room temperature mix in all egg yolks.
  6. Preheat oven 180°C. (Up and down.)
  7. Move it to the large bowl saving 1/2 cup to use it later as a chocolate glaze.
  8. Using a hand mixer mix the ganache with flour. Then by using spatula slowly mix in whipped egg whites in two parts. (Do not break all the bubbles.)
  9. Prepare bundt cake mould. Use oil and speed oil inside the mould and dust with flour. Remove access of powder.
  10. Move ready mixture into the mould and bake for 40 min. (Until the dry wooden stick.)
  11. Remove from the mould and let it cool. Drizzle with chocolate sauce and add your favourite sprinkles. In here Happy Sprinkles I have used.

What are your traditions. Do you have any? Do you cook and prepare any traditional dishes this year or you have decided to give up? I could not resiste ever.

I hope you'll enjoy my double chocolate bound cake.
